Stochasto’s anti-virus technology was launched in the Russian market by our affiliate, Stocona AS. The antivirus software received the Software Applications Editors' Choice Award in the Data Security category from PC Magazine, in Russian Edition in 2005. As a result of its commercial success, a large European anti-virus company approached Stochasto with an offer to purchase the product – the acquisition concluded in April, 2007.
Search
Stochasto’s search technology is its main product and the focus of the commercial licensing and development. The search engine combines the speed of an index with the functionality of linguistic analysis.
The Stochasto engine reverses the search result process. Traditionally, search engines provide links to large numbers of documents that contain reviews. They leave the users to hunt their answers in thousands of pages and millions of words. Stochasto’s linguistic analysis makes it possible to provide meaningful answers to searches as quickly as traditional search engines. No linking required!
In 2005, Stochasto licensed its search technology to Stocona AS. Stocona launched the search engine commercially for Yellow Pages search in Moscow, Russia on 1 March 2007. At launch, the SMS or text search (3090) included listings for restaurants, bars and cafes in Moscow. One inaugural press release says “Not long ago, the service of Yellow pages was available only to the Internet users. Now the inhabitants of Moscow and the Moscow region can receive information about restaurants, cafes and bars per SMS. It is easy: just send your query to the short number 3090…” Since its launch, the service has expanded to include banks, companies, hotels and fuel stations.
In April, 2007, Stochasto launched the search technology as NearU in the United States. NearU Search is a marketing service that distributes local and regional content via premium SMS. NearU makes detailed listings and content searchable by texting 63278 (NEARU). Information on 500,000+ restaurants, cafes and lifestyle businesses are available on the service.
